 Parks and Recreation
Beautiful Seneca Lake is the centerpiece of our recreational outlets. The annual Seneca Lake Whale Watch music festival takes place right on the shores of Seneca Lake, and the National Lake Trout Derby brings fishermen from across the state. The lake offers boating, fishing, camping, hiking, picnicking and family fun activities, as well as year round beauty.
Not far away from the lakefront is the bustling downtown, which features unique shops and restaurants as well as a number of festivals and activities. The historic Smith Opera House is one of downtown's focal points, featuring music of all kinds, dance, movies and theatre. The Geneva Historical Society keeps the area's rich history alive, while Hobart & William Smith Colleges provides many cultural and athletic opportunities for residents and visitors.
If shopping's your pleasure, in addition to great downtown shops, the Geneva area features many local shopping opportunities, including suburban shops, a nearby outlet mall and several larger malls within a 30 - 60 minute drive. And don't miss the Geneva Farmer's market and some of the very best supermarkets in the country.
You can't mention Geneva without talking about the local wine industry and internationally renowned Finger Lakes Wine District. More than one million visitors a year visit the 50-plus wineries in the area, including many on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. |
